David works as a Celebrant and Funeral Director, as a partner 

David works across all areas of the funeral work.

David started life in St Austell before moving around and the family settled in Kingsand near Torpoint. David left school and worked in various fields of sales, before going to Oxford to train for ministry with the Church of England. Being ordained in 2003 David returned to 

St Blazey and worked in the parishes of St Blazey, Tywardreath, Lanlivery and Luxulyan. Before moving to Treverbyn as Parish priest also covering the Boscoppa area in St Austell.  Since November 2013 David has been working with many funeral directors as a celebrant 

and also through his work with St Joseph’s Mission working in the community.

David comes from a family of funeral directors both his Uncle Billy Philips and Cousin Jimmy James had their own Funeral Homes in South Wales. David’s first paid role from a funeral director was with Reg Oliver in Millbrook at the tender age of 16. David occasionally would help Roderick Wedlake when he needed help before his retirement.

When not working David enjoys singing, cooking and eating.
