David Michael
Funeral Director and Celebrant

Born in St. Austell, and growing up in South East Cornwall, David comes from a family of funeral directors.   His first job in industry was at the tender age of 16.

Many will know David from his time working as an Ordained Minister, David worked as a Celebrant for many years before he and Nick took over V F Wedlake & Sons after the retirement of Fitzroy Wedlake's grandson Roderick in 2017.

David is one of Wedlake’s Funeral Directors, working day-to-day organising services for families in the community, as well as continuing his work as a Celebrant. He cares deeply about making each service personal for the family, and offering them outstanding care.

Nick Jago
Funeral Director

Nick is a St Austell boy and grew up in the area.  He went to school in St Austell and, for many years, played keyboards in a group and performed with both St Austell Operatic and Bugle Pantomime group.

With over a decade’s experience working in the funeral industry, Nick, along with David, took over V F Wedlake & Sons.  Nick was delighted to bring a fresh approach to funerals and be the first funeral director in the area to be open about prices.

Their belief of clear and transparent pricing has been part of the company’s ethos since the very beginning; and Nick is passionate about delivering a dignified and beautiful service regardless of any budget constraints. Nick continues to work as one of the Funeral Directors, and is active in his role supporting and caring for bereaved families.
